No age limit to drive in France: what the law says for over-70s

The La Rochelle accident is unlikely to be the last incident to put senior driving back on the political agenda in France. No legislative proposal to introduce mandatory medical testing for older drivers is currently on the table, but road safety organizations are expected to renew calls for reform in the coming months. The key open question is whether France will follow the model of Italy and Germany — or find a third way that preserves personal freedom while adding a structured safety net for the most vulnerable road users.
