Snakebite: the first steps that can save a life

A snakebite — even one from an unidentified snake — must be treated as a medical emergency from the very first moment. Venom can damage the nervous system, impair blood clotting, affect breathing and kidneys, and cause tissue injury around the wound, sometimes without immediate warning signs. Knowing the right steps, and the wrong ones, can make a critical difference.
