Shocking Airport Violence: Female Officer Left Bloodied And Broken
The body-worn footage reveals a devastating scene that no officer should ever endure. PC Lydia Ward, her face covered in blood, cries out in agony as colleagues desperately tend to her injuries. Her broken nose throbs with pain, blood streaming down her uniform as she struggles to comprehend what just happened.
The 30-year-old constable, a seasoned professional with Greater Manchester Police since 2018, had never encountered such brutal violence in her career. « Never in my whole time in the police service had that level of violence been used on me before » she would later testify at Liverpool Crown Court, her voice still trembling with the memory.
What began as a routine arrest at Manchester Airport on July 23 transformed into a nightmare that left PC Ward questioning her safety. The punch that floored her was « really forceful » – powerful enough to shatter bone and leave her unconscious on the terminal floor.
« I was absolutely terrified » she recalled, describing how blood poured from her nose as consciousness returned. The experienced officer, who had transitioned from Lancashire Police’s special constabulary, found herself in uncharted territory of fear and vulnerability.
Her distress echoes through the courtroom footage as colleagues console the traumatized constable. The incident exposed the harsh reality facing frontline officers – that a simple call to duty can spiral into life-altering violence without warning.
The Starbucks Incident That Sparked Airport Chaos
The violence that left PC Ward bloodied and broken began with a seemingly ordinary coffee shop altercation. Inside Terminal 2’s busy Starbucks cafe, Mohammed Fahir Amaaz allegedly headbutted customer Abdulkareem Ismaeil in an unprovoked attack that would set off a chain of devastating events.
The 20-year-old’s aggressive behavior triggered an immediate police response. Officers received reports of a male matching Amaaz’s description attacking an innocent customer in the arrivals hall. What should have been a straightforward arrest operation was about to turn into a nightmare.
PC Ward and her two armed colleagues – PC Zachary Marsden and PC Ellie Cook – approached the Amaaz brothers at a ticket machine. The plan was simple: arrest the suspect and remove him from the crowded terminal area. The situation escalated with terrifying speed.
« Things escalated very quickly. It just went from nought to a hundred » PC Ward later testified, describing how a routine arrest spiraled into chaos within seconds. Mohammed Fahir Amaaz immediately began to resist, tensing up as officers attempted to take him into custody.
But the real danger emerged when his older brother Muhammad Amaad, 26, intervened. What started as resistance from one suspect transformed into a coordinated attack on three police officers. The brothers from Rochdale were about to unleash a level of violence that would leave lasting scars on those sworn to protect the public.
Brothers’ Alleged Assault On Three Officers
The coordinated attack unfolded with brutal efficiency. Mohammed Fahir Amaaz and Muhammad Amaad, both from Rochdale, allegedly launched a systematic assault on the three responding officers that would leave multiple victims requiring medical attention.
PC Ward maintained her focus on arresting the primary suspect, attempting to secure Amaaz’s arm behind his back for handcuffing. Meanwhile, his older brother Amaad confronted PC Marsden and PC Cook, creating a chaotic fracas that split the officers’ attention across multiple threats.
The situation deteriorated rapidly when PC Marsden fell or was pushed during the struggle. Amaaz immediately seized the opportunity, kicking out violently at the fallen officer with devastating force. « The man in blue started booting him, kicking him really hard » PC Ward recalled, describing her desperate attempts to pull the attacker away from her colleague.
